My dog's hair is matted, does the hair need to be cut short?
Knotted/Matted hair is not healthy for your pet's skin, it can be very uncomfortable and can cause irritation and further problems. Before bathing the dog it is necessary to brush out all the knots. If the hair is matted , it is possible to de-matt the coat but this process can be uncomfortable and painful. In some cases de-matting can reveal skin irritation.
If the hair is so badly matted then it may be recommended that the coat is cut short to clear the matts.
How much does it cost?
The pricing displayed is based on a pet that has been regularly groomed and maintained by a grooming expert/professional. We can discuss your pets individual requirements prior to grooming, as the price will depend on breed, size and coat condition. Your dogs coat condition will improve with regular professional grooming.
How long does grooming take?
It is best to allow several hours as your pet will need to be washed, dried and then groomed/trimmed as per your pet's requirements. It will also depend on how much scissoring/trimming is needed, if none is required then it will take less time.
How is my dog dried?
Your pet will naturally shake excess water first, then it will be towel dried with several towels. A hand held pet hair dryer is used to dry off your pet, taking care with nervous dogs.
Can I watch my dog being groomed?
Health and Safety is paramount in any working pet salon and there are lots of sharp tools and electrical appliances being used by the groomer. It is likely that if your pet can see you they will try to be with you and this can result in dangerous working conditions putting both the groomer and your pet and indeed yourself at high risk of serious harm. If your pet can see you it may cause extreme stress and excitement and deter the groomer from being able to concentrate on the job in hand, it is therefore not preferred for you to stay whilst your pet is being groomed. Pet safety is paramount and risk of harm must be avoided where at all possible. You are most welcome to view the salon prior to your pet being groomed.
